“Too busy for ISR? I work a full time job. In fact, I worked a 12 hour overnight shift last night. Got a 45 minute nap before heading to swim lessons.

10 minute lessons worth it? My kids knock out after lessons. They work really hard, one on one, for 10 minutes. In group swim lessons, how much individual time does your child get?

Too far? We drive 73 miles, each way (that’s right 146 miles, every day), for 5 days a week.

Too expensive? Scholarships. Planning, budgets, birthday gifting, payment plans, are all options. Also: how much money is your child’s life worth. How much are you willing to spend on dance, karate, football teams—none of these skills that possess life saving potential.

Drowning is the leading cause of accidental death in children aged 1-5.

It’s worth every minute, and every penny.

ISR isn’t just about “teaching your child to swim” (they do that), but the focus is on equipping your child to SURVIVE if they find themselves in the water unplanned. So, breath control (not blowing bubbles, but slowing your breathing, conserving your air, and stopping panic). They teach them to float. Do you know how long a 4 yr old could tread water before exhaustion, vs how long they can float before reaching exhaustion? And how much easier it is to breath face up and out of the water, calm, vs vertical in the water treading? They teach the child how to look for the exit. How to get out on their own, or hold on to the wall. They teach how to flip and float even if fully clothed. They teach your child how to buy time.

Because when it comes to drowning, seconds count.

Even more—it teaches mommies and daddies and aunts and uncles to be passionate about water safety. About layers of protection. Effective supervision, training, and that ISR skills should always be the last line of defense when it comes to drowning prevention—when the other layers fail, vs the first line of defense.

Today was our first day back at our refresher lessons- can’t wait to see my kids grow and develop their skills.”
